Greetings friends and anyone else who may be reading this. This blog is for me as much as is it is for all of you. I’m a journalist, I love to write and for the next two years I’m going to be using this to help satiate my hobby as well as keep up with my writing skills. In return you guys get to keep up with all my latest adventures! Everybody wins!
Now let me back up and start from the beginning. Hi, my name is Tom Mullen and starting this August I will be serving as a FOCUS Missionary on a college campus. FOCUS stands for Fellowship of Catholic University Students. Anyone who’s met me can probably tell you that my faith is a very important part of my life. I’m not saying that I’m a perfect catholic but I strive to find God in everything I do, keeping Christ always in my heart and sharing my faith with others brings me so much joy. I’ve been blessed with so many gifts and I’m so excited to have this amazing opportunity to use those gifts to share the gospel with students.
As a FOCUS missionary I will be sent to a college campus somewhere in the US where I will get the opportunity to work with students and try to make a difference on the campus. And no I don’t know where I’m going yet but I’ll let you know as soon as I do. FOCUS is a great organization that I’ve been involved with for the past few years and I’m really honored and excited to be hired on with four of my friends and colleagues from CSU (those goofballs in the homepage picture.) Making the decision to become a missionary hasn’t been an easy one. I’ll be putting my career on hold, go somewhere completely new and have to fund raise my salary for the next two years. It will be a lot of work but after a lot of prayer, sleepless nights, discernment and even a few tears I now know in my heart that this is where God wants me to be right now.
Soooooo that’s pretty much the gist of it. I leave for summer training on May 31st so right now I’m working on getting everything in order. Please be excited for me because it’s going to be a lot of fun and I honestly can’t wait to start. Stay tuned for updates on all my future endeavors. I find this is an easy way for people to keep track of me. I might not post every day but I promise to try and have some consistency with my posts. But for now peace out! See ya next time!
